In April, the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the University of
Pennsylvania held its Spring Members’ Meeting in the Grand
Ballroom of The Rittenhouse in Philadelphia, Pa., where
the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter presented one of the two
scholarships that were awarded.
One hundred fifty notable attendees dined while keynote
speaker Thomas J. Barrack, Jr., CEO of Colony Capital,
shared how his long-term relationships led him to achieve his
success. Michael Capobianco, SIOR, chapter scholarship co-chair, presented the SIOR Award to Matthew Towerman with a
large replica of the check. Matthew plans to work performing
financial evaluations of real estate portfolios in New York City
WISCONSIN CHAPTER HOLDS JOINT
In May, the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter presented the SIOR
Award to the second recipient, Nicholas R. Marie, at the Fox
School of Business and Management at Temple University in
Philadelphia, Pa. The Dean and chapter scholarship co-chair,
Philip Rothenburg, SIOR, presented Nicholas with a large
replica of the check.

PHILADELPHIA CHAPTER HOSTS 3RD
ANNUAL OFFICE PROPERTY SUMMIT
The SIOR Philadelphia Chapter hosted their 3rd Annual
Office Property Summit at The ACE Conference Center
near Philadelphia, Pa. Twenty-five members and more than
100 real estate professionals attended summit this past
May, where major developers, landlords, and investors met
with the region’s best office real estate brokers to discuss
Attendees visited six sponsor exhibits promoting office
properties and development projects. Gerry Sweeney, president
and CEO of Brandywine Realty Trust, spoke about the office
market sector on a local and national level, followed by a
panel discussion. The luncheon featured renowned economist
Joel Naroff who discussed changes in the Federal Reserve and
its impact on the overall commercial real estate market.

The SIOR Wisconsin
Chapter held a golf
tournament in conjunction
with the CCIM Wisconsin
Chapter in June. Ninety-five golfers arrived at
The Legend of Merrill
Hills in Waukesha, Wis.,
to have lunch, play the
course, and network at the
closing cocktail reception
and dinner. Members of
both chapters were also
presented with awards for
placing in the tournament. Jeff Hoffman, SIOR, CCIM; Gregg
Thompson, Thompson Project Management; Joe Schaeffer,
Cryovac Sealed Air Corp.; and Matt Goode won first place.
