CHAPTER HOSTS CALIFORNIA
REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN
In March, the SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County
Chapter welcomed guest speaker, Jim Brulte, Chairman of
the California Republican Party, to a dinner at Gulliver’s
Restaurant in Irvine, Calif.
The event started with a networking reception, followed
by a sit-down dinner. Brulte, also a former minority leader
of the California State Senate and Assembly, presented on
new federal and state water guidelines and the effects of
development, while encouraging members to reach out to their

In April, the SIOR Louisiana/Alabama/Mississippi/NW
Florida Chapter awarded the Heggeman-Turner Scholarships.
With matching funds from the SIOR Foundation and the
generosity of the Heggeman – Turner Memorial Scholarship
Fund, the chapter awarded $2000 scholarships to both Paul
Dominique from Louisiana State University (LSU) and
Carolina Lima from Auburn University. Paul was presented
with his award by Branon Pesnell, SIOR, CCIM, and Brian
Andrews, the Assistant Director of the LSU Real Estate
Research Institute and Faculty Advisor to the Student Real

The SIOR Maryland/District of Columbia/Northern Virginia
Chapter held an education program at the Executive Plaza
Dining Hall in Hunt Valley, Md., in April. The course entitled
“MREC Agency – Commercial” attracted 32 members and
guests. Instructor Colin McGowan, founder and president of
The Frederick Academy of Real Estate, CDEI, presented an
informal seminar on agency relationships, agreements, and
agent’s duties to the principal, sub-agents, and obligations of
In May, the SIOR Memphis Chapter held an appreciation
event at the Memphis Hunt and Polo Club in Memphis, Tenn.
The SIOR Memphis Friends Appreciation event was held to
thank the chapter’s friends for their continued support and
introduce recruits to members and friends. Thirty chapter
friends, recruits, and members mingled while hearing about
the benefits of connecting with SIOR.

In March, the SIOR Memphis Chapter hosted a recruitment
soiree at the Interim Restaurant in Memphis, Tenn. Sponsored
by Hillwood Investment Properties, the event hosted 30
members and prospective members for networking and learning
more about Hillwood's latest local development, Legacy Park.
