First and foremost I would like to say what a huge success this year's Spring World Conference
turned out to be. It was wonderful to have more than 600 SIORs in attendance in my hometown
of Las Vegas, Nev. I would like to personally thank all of our members who attended and all of
the exhibitors, sponsors, and SIOR staff for making it a huge success. Those who attended had the
opportunity to learn in many of the educational sessions offered, participate in networking events like
the always popular Panattoni Party, as well as listen to an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers,
including: Jack Uldrich and Ron Insana.
NEW TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION SESSIONS
One of the major highlights of this year’s spring conference was the new technology education
sessions. With the ever evolving technology sources and social media platforms these days, it is important to keep up with technology
trends and learn the ways in which they can benefit industry professionals. In addition to learning a variety of highly effective mobile
CRE apps and energy saving strategies, attendees were given tutorials on how the latest and greatest SIOR digital products and services
can enhance their networking and business. These demonstrations highlighted tools such as SIOR Connect, SIOR Pulse, and locate
an SIOR, encompasing the recently upgraded members only site — MySIOR — which has been greatly expanding in users; offering
chapters their own personal and free microsite, and the ability to post and network on discussion boards viewable by all members.
It was great to see so many SIORs take advantage of the sessions offered, and I look forward to seeing increased usage on the MySIOR
site — taking advantage of the benefits that so many members have already discovered. SIOR continues to improve its digital and
social media presence in many other ways; with the recent launch of a new website and over 4,000 twitter followers, SIOR staff is
bringing you the most innovative tools to stay up-to-date with commercial trends and connections to other SIORs. There are so many
great resources that the SIOR credential has to offer, and I advise you to take advantage of all of them.
SIOR has provided speakers for Associated Builders and Contractors, BOMA International and NAIOP. These speaking opportunities
increase awareness of the SIOR brand. The Executive Committee has created a working group that is charged with identifying other
associations and organizations that SIOR may be able to develop strategic alliances. This relationship will provide SIOR members with
the opportunity to speak at their conferences, with the end goal of creating more brand awareness for SIOR.
We are still growing our membership of the best and brightest brokers in the industry with 160 new members in 2013. Congratulations
to new and veteran members, having earned your designation by meeting the industry’s most vigorous entry requirements, and joining
the ranks of other top producers and deal-makers in the industry. We expect more growth to come this upcoming year.
