Our Center for Career Advancement (CCA) has scheduled a total of
eight seminars for 2011 on advanced sale skills, ethics and professionalism, and business strategies across the country. SIOR members are now able to attend designation courses at a significantly
reduced registration rate through the SIOR member “Maintain
Your Competitive Edge” program. This is a great opportunity to
refresh your knowledge and learn what today’s brokers are learning, as well as meet and network with incoming and future SIOR
designees. CCA is also planning a series of webinars for the second
half of 2011. I encourage everyone to consider participating in one
of these excellent educational opportunities to re-tool and refresh
your knowledge base.
Member retention continues to stay strong with more than 95
percent of members renewing this year. Members can now pay
in full online, which SIOR staff is hoping will make the renewal
process simpler and more convenient. The Chapter Recruitment
Incentive program ($1000/Chapter) has been extremely successful
in enabling many Chapters to host recruitment events.
Our international membership contingent is growing and active,
with the European Regional Council up to 48 designees with 12
applicants under consideration a little more than a year since it was
established. Richard Hollander and I will be attending our continued series of London luncheons again in June and this trip will
be highlighted by a cocktail reception hosted in Amsterdam by
AMB two days prior to our event in London. This will give us even
broader exposure to real estate agents and professionals throughout
Richard Hollander and I attended MIPIM in March where key
sponsors reaffirmed their support for SIOR, and 14 prospective
members expressed interest in applying for membership.
We have appointed a task force to develop a task force for global
expansion and to help SIOR prioritize where to best allocate our
resources and time for continued growth around the globe.
I would like to acknowledge the SIOR Foundation and its many
donors for an outstanding job in Scottsdale. The Great Escape
Giveaway was a huge success and many SIORs will be vacationing in beautiful homes and destinations courtesy of the generosity of many of our members and SIOR Chapters. And speaking of
generosity, the Foundation has just announced that the David T.
Houston Jr., SIOR Memorial Scholarship Fund has met the minimum threshold to become a named fund. The memory of David
Houston will remain with SIOR and the Foundation years into the
future. Please consider a contribution to it so that its proceeds can
be used to deliver quality educational opportunities through scholarships to many aspiring real estate professionals.
Please enjoy this edition of the Professional Report magazine. I
encourage all of you to get involved, author an article, be an interview subject, or place an ad. It’s an excellent way to be seen and
heard and to demonstrate your expertise to a wide audience.
It is not too early to consider signing up for the Fall World
Conference in Chicago on October 20-22. You can register online
by going to the SIOR website. And consider participating on a
committee(s) in 2012. It is a great way to get involved, meet other
SIORs from around the world, and see first-hand how the organization operates.
